Wiener GTV Design
Gebrüder Thonet Wiener GTV Design was founded by Michael Thonet in Vienna.
Famous for their bent wooden seating the company developed their own way of creating sculptural wooden shapes. Thonet found from observation that fresh wood was more flexible than dry wood. From this Thonet and his contemporaries tested the bending of the wood sheets packets, dipped in boiling glue and then dried into rigid forms.
